Someone sound the fog horn

April 18, 2008

I’m inching towards the end of this “fog”. Still in it, just moving forward. Anytime a financial dilemma rears its ugly head, I think everyone gets to that point. Especially when it isn’t your fault…but someone you depend greatly on. That’s all you guys get. It isn’t me per say, but it very much so affects me and my mother (being that she’s my landlord and all). And it just seemed to be one thing after another, pushing me closer and closer to the edge. There’s only so much one person can humanly take on, and finally I fell.
Though, after talking about it and figuring out what this person needs to do to fix it. I began to feel better. That is until Wednesday night. Apparently God was trying me again (I think I failed the first time…though I think I handled it better than most would) and decided to get a laugh while he was at it. Promptly giving myself and my room-mate slight food poisoning. Here’s an FYI to all of you out there that is not familiar with using Turkey meat, if it looks and smells funny DO. NOT. USE. IT. I was not home with T started dinner (mom is in Nebraska with my step-father, I told you guys everytime she goes out of town I get sick!), I happened to be feeding their animals. When I came home dinner was ready to go, so we sat down with our tacos (I’m beginning to notice a trend with my now 2 cases of slight food poisonings…both time tacos) and I ate 2 of them, I noticed they didn’t taste right and stopped eating. But I didn’t notice in time to stop Tara from eating hers…she actually ate all that was on her plate. about an hour and a half later…we came to the speedy conclusion that we’re definitely building another bathroom. I will not add the details, however, if you’ve ever had a stomach virus…amplify that by about 20. Needless to say we wanted to die…
When I woke up yesterday, I still didn’t feel right but I decided to go to work anyway. Still having a mini pity party for myself, I passed in front of a church I go by everyday but never really paid any mind to, their marquee read “Everyone deserves to be appreciated” instantly sending me into tears. In the mist of my hysterics two geese passed overhead.

Everything’s going to be ok.

A common belief in my family is that my grandmother is around us to comfort when we see geese. At her funeral as they were lowering the casket two geese flew over…but only we saw them.  It was amazing. Not enough to convince you? On my first day going to the job I have now, I was driving to work and I looked beside my car (on the driver’s side) and a goose was flying along with my car. Staying with me until the next intersection.
Take it as you will. But I like the way my family and I are comforted in our hard times by the rare occurrence of these sightings. Always during an extremely hard time. To remind us that God is with us and she believes in us.

Hope you all have a nice weekend, and don’t eat tacos.

Much Love,
