Hit the ground running

March 31, 2008

So, this is going to be a slightly short post. Considering today is the end of the month and our quarter. This is a combination for craziness in my department.
Saturday: I still can’t believe she found one in just one (extremely long) day but my best friend did find her wedding dress. These look a lot better not edited. But for her safety I had to edit them :-)

And it basically was a perfect fit. The only thing that needs to be altered were the straps that criss-cross in the back which were too big.

I will do the random things that Mim tagged me to do tomorrow. :-)

Have a great day!!

Much Love,
K

Ooohh, I’m excited!

March 28, 2008

So today is Friday (and Pay Day…wohoo!) and when I came in this morning I had an email from Mim, she said I would be interested to read this article.

Not many people that I hang around are into musicals and opera. I happen to be a huge fan of them. Thank you music appreciation classes that I usually slept through in college. However Mim and I share this deep love, though we do not always agree about a few of them (hehe). Mim knows my absolute favorite ever, is Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera. She sent me the link this morning and I about fell out of my chair (well besides the fact that it’s a P.O.S.). It was one of the first ‘plays’ I ever acted in. And actually it was what threw me into my love for the stage. So I am very excited to see that he has written a new score for a sequel. I’m not so sure about the whole Coney Island setting but it should be interesting to see how the Phantom goes along.

Ohh maybe they’ll make a sequel to the movie too….mmm Gerard Butler.

(After thought) I thought Coney Island was closing? Friends in NY, can you let me know?
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!

Much Love,

Let’s do the shuffle

March 27, 2008

So I actually checked my myspace for the first time in forever. And realized my best friend Meche* had sent me a message. After a few back and forth she finally came out with what I’ve been waiting for. Her wedding date. It will be on Oct. 4, 2008. Which just so happens to be my mother’s birthday. :-) So Saturday will consist of wedding dress shopping. And luckily I am not required to wear a dress because of the simple fact she and her husband-to-be are not having bridesmaids or groomsmen. That makes my life easier, did I already mention I don’t have to wear a dress? You can’t see me, but I’m totally doing the happy dance for it. Apparently she also wants the bachelorette party and the bachelor party to be combined. Which is odd to me. Maybe this is normal, and I’m just seriously behind the times. Someone please clue me in.

With this marriage it will be official, I am the only one left out of my group of friends that does not have a signifcant other nor children. Besides the small percentage that aren’t legal to wed (and Tara doesn’t count). Please excuse me as I beat my head against my desk. As soon as I clue my mom into this little tidbit about Meche’s final wedding plans. I know it’s going to start. The “You’re getting to the age of settling down, when are you going to find a good man to marry and have children with?”  Ugh. 1st, obviously there aren’t any ‘good’ men left out there…or trust me I would have found him. 2nd, lay off-seriously.

Anyway, getting to the title. As I was on myspace I noticed a survey type thing a friend of mine had done involving their ipod. So I decided to do it too :-)
Put your ipod on shuffle to answer the following questions:

1. How are you feeling today?
Running Away- Hoobastank; interesting…and slightly true.

2. Will you get far in your life?
Kerosene- Miranda Lambert; HAHAHAHA sooo freaking funny.

3.How do your friends see you?
Beautiful- Christina Aguilera; uhm..not even close.

4.Will you ever marry?
Wasted- Carrie Underwood; oh that’s a good freaking sign.

5. What is the favorite theme of your best friend?
Love Song-Sara Bareilles; I don’t know how this fits, but I love that song.

6. What is the story of your life?
Hands-Jewel; this is sort of getting scary…

7. What was it like in high school?
Everybody’s Fool- Evanescence; ohh so fitting.

8. How can you advance in life?
Fairytales-Sara Bareilles; LOL apparently I need to stop believing in fairytales.

9. What is the coolest thing about your friends?
We Are the Champions- Queen; That’s too funny.

10.What’s in store for this weekend?
Crashed- Daughtry; Lord I hope not!!

11.What song describes you best?
Crazy Bitch- Buckcherry; I totally just snorted I was laughing so hard when this came on. No I am not!

12.How about your grandparents?
Remember Me- Hoobastank; uhm…I don’t know about this one. The title sounds like it’s good, but seriously the song has a different meaning.

13. How is your life going?
How’s it going to be- Third Eye Blind; not really sure how to take that one.

14.What song will play at your funeral?
Don’t Speak- No Doubt; wow…just wow. Lol.

15.How does the world see you?
Bright Eyes- Bonnie Tyler; Hm. Interesting.

16.Will you have a happy life?
Lovestoned- Justin Timberlake; Err..ok?

17.What do your friends really think about you?
Killer Queen- Queen; LOL. Nice.

18.Are there people that secretly want you?
Lithium- Evanescence; Apparently people want me but don’t want to?

19. How to make myself happy?
Cryin’- Aerosmith; Hmm…I love that song. So true. Go listen to it.

20.What should you do with you life?
As Good As I Once Was- Toby Keith; What’s that supposed to mean?!

So that was interesting. Go forth and shuffle :-)

Much Love,

Oh…I forgot!!

March 26, 2008

The other day I received the “You make my day Award” from Mim! So now it’s my turn to pass it along.

Obviously, I love reading LittleSpoon. Just because I know what crazy antics that go on with her in RL, it’s just funnier to read it again. And she’s a great friend :-)

Michelle & the City, her blog is such a pick me up. I’ve not yet come away from her blog not giggling or having a song stuck in my head.

Margarita, most of the time I can totally relate to her. And the fact she’s a dark blue fan makes me grin ;-)

Blog of Eternal Stench, she and I are two peas in a pod in the dorkiness. Plus, I love Labyrinth too. Hehe.

Craic in My Psyche, I just enjoy reading all the crazy things that go on with her family.

So there you have it. Wear your badge proudly, for all of you definitely make my day! :-)

Much Love,

Block

March 26, 2008

I wasn’t going to write today, for the basic fact that I can’t think of what I’m going to write about. Odd, usually I have something to talk about. But I’m honestly at a loss. I was reading my friend’s blog yesterday and I guess I should say that it’s interesting how you can feel so close to people you do not know just because they write about their lives. Even though you may not know them personally, you still feel a connection. When they’re angry, hurt, sad, on top of the world, etc. I feel the anger, the hurt, the sadness and the unadulterated happiness for them as well. Like extended family. :-)

I hate having a block. It’s like I’m unintentionally holing up everything I feel. Not the point that I do it intentionally to begin with, I’m quite sure that I would lose a few freaders if I wrote down EVERYTHING I actually thought. Well that or I would be tossed into the paddy wagon, which might be to my advantage some days.

And once again the block has turned back on. So let’s turn it over to you guys:
What’s going on in your lives right now? If you need to vent do so. :-)

Much Love,
K

No! Don’t wanna go to work!

March 24, 2008

So what should have been a relaxing time off seems to have been a nonstop constant fast pace 4 1/2 days off. With the exception of yesterday. I was determined to have one day to myself.

Thursday and Friday was pretty much surrounded in my trying to prepare for the yard-sale. Friday was mostly yard work, and trust me after nearly 4 hours of mowing, weeding, checking plants etc. I was hurting Saturday. My legs felt like rubber a good part of the morning. I am way more out of shape than I realized. But it was done, and I will not have to worry about doing it again until probably this weekend.

Saturday- Got up bright and freaking early at 6am and started pulling out tables and what not. We already had people trying to show up at 7am, dispite our adamant “NO EARLY BIRDS” on every sign and in the ad. Glad to know everyone in this town can read. The yard-sale was a huge success though. We got rid of almost everything we needed to. And we made more than I expected. The rest of the crap we didn’t sale went to charity. Mim did very well also. I think she was more excited about getting rid of those God awful plates than making the money. Lol.

Sunday- I was determined to not do anything (except clean…which was half way done). So I didn’t. My family didn’t do anything for the holiday so I decided I would make a traditional Easter dinner for myself and Tara, she doesn’t have family here anyway. When my roomie came home from work while I was in the middle of checking the potatoes boiling for our mashed potatoes (yes I made them, no boxed stuff for me) she suddenly looked at me and said she wanted a new computer. Confused, I looked at her and gently reminded her that she was about to have rent and a car payment for her new car coming up. She insisted and then she left and next thing I know I’m helping her set up the new desktop in her room. Interesting how things like this happen. I will let you know if I have to kick her out for not paying rent ;-) hehe.

I forgot to download my pictures of the eggs I dyed and the puppy play date with Ozzy and the dogs. I will do that tomorrow. And I completely forgot to take pictures at the yard sale. We were busy the entire time.

Question: How is it possible to go from 71 degrees yesterday to 50ish today with a slight snow flurry mixed with rain this morning? That isn’t even normal.

What did you guys do this weekend and for Easter?

Hope you all have a great day!

Much Love,
K

Pondering Wednesday

March 19, 2008

Ah yes, it’s that time again. My incoherent thoughts being posted for all to see.

*The second part of my day will start my 1/2 wit attempt at a vacation.

*Saturday I do plan on having a yard sale. And yes, T will be there to help. Hey Mim…got anything you want to sale?

*For said yard sale, I will be putting an ad in the paper for the first time ever. And I’m sort of freaked about it. Then again I have a paranoid streak that runs through me. Do people actually scout out houses to rob later at yard sales? Or is that just my train of thought and a major fear that I am letting get the best of me?

*The yard is full of downed branches and ankle high grass from the recent bout of storms we had. I wonder if I could actually just sell my yard instead of our overflow of crap?

*I’m totally going to be dying eggs on Saturday after the yard sale by the way. Although I’m unsure of what to do with them afterwards. Not like I have children that can go hunt for them.

*Note to self: Find kids to hunt dyed eggs.

*I was informed yesterday that I am a cold hearted evil person. Though they couldn’t give me a definite reason as to WHY I was, they just wanted to let me in the know of it. Thanks…if I actually had a heart or feelings that might of hurt them.

*I have to get my teeth cleaned today…the joy is overwhelming.

* I love how we were told by our company ‘lawyers’ to add at the end of our signature this:
“This email is intended only for the personal and confidential us of the recipient(s) named above. If you are not an intended recipient, you have received this email in error and any review, dissemination, distribution, copying, or printing of this message is strictly prohibited. If you have received this email in error, please notify the sender immediately by return email and permanently delete this email. Thank you.”
Yeah like that’s going to work. Good luck with that, let me know how the end result is.

*I would just like to state my love for Lactaid, Zicam  and Tylenol Allergy & Sinus. They are life savers.

*I don’t think my family is actually getting together for Easter, which is odd. But I have yet to hear any plans and it’s Wednesday. How strange is it to not have a dinner in his honor? Is there anyone out there that doesn’t celebrate Easter in the same fashion, you know the drill Easter church service, lunch at chruch, Easter night service then family dinner? And this questions does not count if you aren’t Christian. :-) Because obviously no you don’t. Lol.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday weekend. I probably will post tomorrow, but just in case. :-)

Much Love,
K

Break out the Bailey’s!

March 17, 2008

Yeah I had to get that out of my system. It sounded weird having to say that on Saturday as opposed to today. So I’m going to apologize to my catholic freaders, but I’m celebrating tonight. Besides the fact that today is the real St. Patty’s Day, today is also my mother and step-father’s anniversary! I’m still amused that they wed on a holiday so he wouldn’t forget.

Here’s a quick recap of the weekend:
Sat. - Cleaned…alot. Yep that’s it. Oh, and Dana stopped by for a few and hung out.
Sun.- Went to Charlotte very early in the morning to visit my sister and nephew and we all went to see Horton hears a Who. And I would like to say, it wasn’t as good as I thought it would be. Yes it was obviously for a much younger crowd (i.e. my nephew) but most of the time they shove adult humor in it. Not so much in this movie. The funny parts were funny, the rest not so good. We stayed in the Charlotte for the entire day, I was so tired by the end of it. And I just wanted to go home. The drive is two and a half hours (so 5 there and back) in the car with my mother and step-father, not to mention the rest of the driving around to get to other places can seriously wear you down.

That’s all I did this weekend, what did you guys do?

Happy Monday/St. Patrick’s Day! Don’t forget to sport green today :-)

Much love,
K

Ooohh….shinnne-y

March 14, 2008
  • Yeah it’s going to be a bullet post today. I’m so scattered right now, I seriously doubt I could write a comprehensive post at this point.
  • Want to know how you can have a shoe into true dorkiness? Play WoW, do what we call a “death march” until you reach the highest level achievable at this point (or at least until the new expansion) and then start more characters to do it again.
  • Laugh as much as you want about the previous bullet, what can I say….I’m a gamer ;-).
  • TGIF- and it’s payday….WOHOO!!
  • I would also like to share the strange dream I had last night. I dreamt that for Mim’s Blogcon ‘08, everyone who was participating decided to try out for American Idol. And every single one of you made it to Hollywood. Yeah…I woke up scratching my head.
  • Have you ever had a song suddenly pop into your head and not go away? Mine at the moment just so happens to be this one line: “I like to sing-a about the moon-a and the spring-a….I like ta sing-a” Where it came from is beyond me. I just wish it would take a hike!
  • Tonight should be interesting, a couple of friends are wanting to go out tonight. I’m not sure how I feel about this, considering they are major homebodies. Especially C, she looked at me on Monday (while they were over helping T put up the new tv and all that jazz) and said she wanted to go out dancing. I think we all stopped short of whatever task we were doing and stared at her, our mouths agape.
  • And now I have the one liner from the movie Chicago: “And all that Jazz” now playing in my head alternating with the “Sing-a” line. This should make for an interesting day.
  • Yesterday was my deceased grandmother’s birthday. So at lunch I met up with my mom, aunt & uncle at the graveyard to replace her flowers. I’ve never really noticed how strange we all are until yesterday. Apparently we all look EXACTLYalike, or I take all of my characteristics from just my mother’s side of the family. We ate at subway, excuse me, they ate at subway and as we were sitting there I kept feeling like someone was watching me. So I did the nonchalant glance over the shoulder bit, and it seems the entire establishment was staring at us. Slightly confused I realized that these people seem to gain more and more interest into whatever our discussion was about. I think it was our first plane rides? I have concluded it’s because we’re so hot ;-) Lol.
  • I just found out I’m going to be the only one here from my “group”. Oh joy. I love it when I’m stuck by myself doing everything.
  • I’m excited that I took half a day next Wednesday, a personal day Thursday and already have the entire day off on Friday for Good Friday. Wohoo!
  • Yes, I will still be post during that time.
  • Did anyone else see where that elderly couple had 800 dogs in their triple wide trailer? They’re so cute. I want one!

    Have a great weekend!!

    Much Love,
    Kim

So…tired…

March 12, 2008

Ok, I’m ready to get into the groove of this time change now. I guess it isn’t helping that I have had constant issues with my allergies this ENTIRE week either. I’ve also been wanting to kill hurt my co-workers on a daily basis this week. Have you ever noticed that the annoying habits of co-workers seem to stand out more when you aren’t feeling up to par? It’s like fingernails on a chalkboard. How about some examples, eh?

Example 1: The constant throat clearer- this person insists on making the most disgusting noises when he does his morning routine of clearing his throat. “HACK HACK….HACK…*strange noise that reminds you of a moped struggling to get to its top speed (of what, 25mph?) with an extremely large person on it* HACK HACK….*sound again* COUGH HACK AHEM AACCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKK”
Did that make you cringe? Imagine not reading it…but hearing it. One of these days, he will find out just how much it displeases me. You can trust in that.

Example 2: The too nosy assistant(s)- Oh come on…you know who I’m talking about. The person who is all but stalking your every move to report it back to HER supervisor. She watches you as you’re faxing/copying/scanning and insists on knowing every little detail of what you’re doing. Even if it doesn’t pertain to her job whatsofreakingever. However, it seems her life revolves around your every move, and her false hope you’ll screw up bad enough she can report something worth while. It never happens, so she becomes bitter…and is still old :-D. She’s also the know it all of the office, that didn’t start working there but two months before you did…yeah ok you have seniority…too bad I’m not an actual assistant, like you.

Example 3: The personal caller- I know more about her daughter/dad/mom/ex-husband than she does at this point. And she must talk above EVERYONE else who is talking on the phone with claimants. It seems foreign to her that we’re here to do a job and not socialize. Imagine that, people are working…at work? Such a strange concept, no?

Example 4: The person getting married/having a baby for the first time- Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited for you. But I really do not care that much. There’s really no reason for you to constantly be at my cube showing me new things you’ve found pertaining to whatever applies to your situation. Just let me know you’re getting hitched or having a kid…and when it happens show me pictures. We do not know each other outside of the walls of this place…why do you assume I give a crap? Stop wasting my time and retail smile.

Example 5: Whoever keeps stealing my stapler! It’s really annoying, especially to be in the middle of a huge project and realize I have to go back and paperclip everything until the offender returns it. FYI- there are more in the supply cabinet, get one. And be man/woman enough to not wait until I’m on my 15min break to return it…that’s just evil.

And finally
Example 6: The person who doesn’t respect personal space boxes- This wouldn’t be so terrible if it were an attractive guy…but no it never is. Usually it is the office slush, who feels the need to be right in your face to make sure they have your attention. If I am out on my smoke break (yeah I know BAD Kim *slaps my own wrist with a ruler*) I would rather you not be right in my face And here’s a word of advice; don’t drink Bourbon before coming into work, it has a distinctive smell and you leave a trail of such a wretched oder behind you…so either bathe or stop drinking…just saying. Oh and that goes for the person in the office that douses themselves in aftershave/perfume too. It’s like you leave an invisible outline of yourself and once someone walks into it they end up hacking like the guy in the first example.

Have a great Hump Day

 Much Love,
K
